When people come together to create success for one another as well as the people they serve, big things happen. It’s true in low-income communities, start-up initiatives and the boardrooms of global nonprofits, and facilitating it is my life’s work and passion. I’ve been an independent consultant working with nonprofits and mission-driven organizations to develop their people resources since 2011. Prior to that, I spent fifteen years at Teach For America, the first two as a teacher, and the remainder in leadership roles focused on building exceptional teams. As a Director and then Managing Director of Talent Acquisition, my team facilitated a three-fold increase in our workforce during my tenure, while making sure our diversity goals were met and exceeded. I previously held the role of Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Center, where I managed a staff of twenty-five teachers who provided individualized education for a diverse student community. I was also appointed to the Panel for Educational Policy at the NYC Department of Education by Mayor Michael Bloomberg. My degree in Urban Studies and Sociology is from the University of Pennsylvania (go Quakers!). When I’m not collaborating with clients, I’m spending as many hours as I can with my two girls before they launch, and ordering yet more spicy green sauce at our beloved Peruvian hole-in-the-wall (ask me!) in Queens.
